The best date night in Glasgow - Ashton Lane

Glasgow is pretty damn awesome, its got everything from modern bars and restaurants in the City Centre to cool hipster bars in Finniston but one of my favourite places to visit is Ashton Lane. Tucked in behind the Hillhead Subway station is the cool little cobble street of Ashton Lane! Filled with restaurants, bars and even a cinema it has everything you need for the perfect movie night! I took Jess along on a mid week date night

If your looking for a weekday date night thats a little bit different and won't break the bank then read on.

Drinks at Vodka Wodka

First stop on your Ashton Lane tour should be Vodka Wodka. They have a selection of mid week cocktails for £3.90 and if by some miracle the sun is shining they have a cool wee beer garden at the back!

Dinner at Brel

Quite a few of the restaurants on Ashton Lane often feature on www.itison.com or www.groupon.com  so its worth keeping an eye out. For example Jess and I had two courses for two people for just £18. They also do some awesome looking cheese fondu here (£15 for 2 people) so will definitely be back to try that out soon!

Pre Cinema drinks at The Lane

Before heading in to the film you should definitely call in at The Lane. The bar is attached to the cinema, has great live music and comfy sofas to chill out on. You don't even need to rush your drinks since you can take them straight through to enjoy while you watch the movie.

Kong at the Grosvenor

When me and Jess trialled this date night we chose to see Kong. The screens at the Grosvenor might not be IMAX size but with comfortable arm chairs and even sofas at the back it definitely does not disappoint. With little side tables at each end of the chairs we thought it be rude not to grab a glass of wine (proper glasses too) and popcorn before the film started. Remember to use your Meerkat Movies to get 2 for 1 on the cinema tickets.

So if your in Glasgow and thinking of going to the Cinema don't just go to Cineworld, get yourself down to Ashton Lane and make a proper night of it. Even better if you go during the week you can get a lot of great deals, like the ones I mentioned above, which make for a super cheap date night.

Ohh and Kong was amazing, not much to it (a big angry monkey on an island) but still a really good film!
